People with low income will still be exempt from paying prescription charges, according to the Health and Social Care Minister.
Kate Beecroft MHK was questioned in Tynwald last week by Member for Douglas North David Ashford about the matter.
She says the scheme will continue to exempt those who are on the lowest incomes and have applied and been approved for income-based benefits.
Mrs Beecroft says she expects the majority of people who are not on low enough income to claim benefits will make use of the existing pre-payment certificate option of paying £60 - which comes to £5 per month.
