Politicians have rejected an amendment to cut the target time for the Island to achieve net zero carbon emissions.
In the House of Keys yesterday, Ramsey MHK Lawrie Hooper proposed an amendment to the Climate Change Bill to reduce the Islands goal of zero emissions on Manx shores from 2050 to 2035.
However, MHK's turned it down as the clauses stage of the bill was being discussed.
The Isle of Man Student Climate Network has since reacted to the update calling it 'disheartening', and adding the organisation will continue to lobby for and demand for a carbon neutrality deadline of 2035.
