Political groups on the Island have spoken out against the recent actions by the Steam Packet in its dispute with Nautilus.
Liberal Vannin is calling on the government to instruct the company to enter into a binding arbitration to resolve the issue.
Meanwhile, the Manx Labour Party says it's appalled by the 'fire and rehire' tactic, as forcing the hands of employees is an 'irresponsible use of power.'
The group adds that it refutes the Steam Packet's claims that it has no choice but to take this path, and believe that negotiations can resolve this.
It's urging the government and company to reconsider the economic and social risks being taken by allowing the situation to spiral further out of control.
