Regardless of the message, sticking political messages on public landmarks is still graffiti.
It comes following reports of 'Free Palestine' stickers being put all around the area of East Cushlin over the weekend.
Taking to social media the DOI said 'regardless of the statement the sticker speaks of, the public should not be defacing signage anywhere on the island.'
They said they've raised it as a job on their system for one of their operatives to remove the stickers as soon as possible.
