Police say they've significantly disrupted organised crime operations linking the Isle of man to the UK after lengthy jail terms for men convicted of trying to smuggle £300,000 worth of drugs to the Island.
Four men who tried to use a fishing boat to bring 15 kilos of cannabis and 98 cannabis vapes to the Island were arrested as they got off the vessel in November 2023.
This week, 37 year old Jamie Smith of Ballacutchel Road in Douglas, 44 year old John Skillen of Archallagan Terrace in Foxdale, 36 year old Ashley Harrison of Kerrowmoar in Sulby and 27 year old Jordan Corkill of Kerroo Coar in Peel were jailed for a total of 16 years and two months.
Detective Inspector Jamie Tomlinson from the Serious and Organised Crime Unit says he's pleased to the courts have imposed sentences reflecting the seriousness, planning and sophistication of the plot.
