Police are asking people buying things online to stay vigilant following reports of fraud this week.
The constabulary says it's heard of people offering iPhones for sale on Island- based buy and sell sites - in one instance a con artist pretending to live on Island has set up a UK account and money has been sent to it but no phone given in return.
As a result, officers are urging residents to check every possible avenue before handing funds over and that it's best to meet the seller especially if they live on the Isle of Man.
One other tip authorities give is to check the sort code of an account online to see if it's local or not.
