Police Warn of Fake Bank Notes in Circulation
A
warning has gone out to the public and local businesses to be vigilant after a
spate of counterfeit bank notes have gone into circulation.
So far the notes have been found largely in the North of the Island.
Attention was drawn to the fraudulent money after the Isle of Man bank received a number of fake ten and twenty pound notes, as a consequence some retailers in the North have seen a considerable loss in profits.
To date a number of people have been formally questioned and charged in relation to the offences, but police are keen to speak to anyone else who may have information.
If businesses have any concerns or suspicions then they should also contact the police immediately.
Members of the public who think they have obtained some of the money should take it for testing at either their local bank or the Police station.
