A rule book on how to police the Isle of Man has gone on display as part of a new exhibition marking 150 years of the Manx police force.
The 1879 'force instructions' booklet is just one exhibit charting the progress of the constabulary in the joint venture between the police and Manx National Heritage.
The free exhibition is running at Castle Rushen until September 13th and also features items of clothing worn by officers as well as registration books and criminal mugshots.
Curator of social history Matthew Richardson helped put the exhibition together - he says the venue is fitting:
