Following the death of four boys who fell through ice in the UK - the Island's Police have spoken out about 'winter water safety'.
In a post on social media, officers say throughout the winter - children and pets may be tempted to play on ice formed on open water.
However, the force is encouraging parents to speak to their children about the potential dangers and to teach them to stay away.
Further, the public is being encouraged to learn about what to do if you get into trouble.
If anyone sees someone fall through ice, you're urged to call Emergency Services , shout for help and not to attempt a rescue by going onto the ice yourself.
