Witnesses to a 'very serious' assault on Saturday are being asked to come forward to help police understand why it happened.
At around 11.40pm a man was attacked outside a property on Empress Drive in Douglas - he was left with significant head and facial injuries but is now said to be in a 'comfortable condition'.
Police have confirmed a 32-year-old male was arrested at the scene and has been charged with assault - he is currently remanded in custody.
A second person was also arrested but was released without charge.
Officers say the motive for the attack is unknown and are appealing directly to two men and a woman who were at the scene with members of the public immediately before the assault.
They believe the information they have is 'vital' in piecing together why the crime took place - anyone with information can contact Police Headquarters or Crimestoppers.
