A man’s appeared in court charged with trying to have 1.4 kilos of cannabis sent to him in the post.
Michael Anthony Brown of Bircham Avenue Close in Ramsey appeared before magistrates at Douglas Courthouse.
He denies attempting to possess cannabis with intent to supply it and being unlawfully concerned in the drug’s production, but admitted possessing cannabis.
The court heard police were called to Ramsey’s sorting office on February 13 after postal workers spotted a suspicious package, and inside officers found more than £19,000 worth of the class B drug.
They replaced it with teabags and allowed 28 year old Brown to sign for the parcel before arresting him.
Magistrates said the case was too serious to be heard in a summary court and would have to be committed to a Court of General Gaol Delivery for trial.
Brown was bailed in the sum of £500 to appear again on September 22.
