A number of 'juveniles' were searched by Police earlier this week, after they were found inside the closed Quarter Bridge pub in the Island's capital.
In a post on social media, police say they received a call just before 8pm on Monday to reports of a number of people inside the pub.
When teams arrived, some young people were 'duly searched for items that could cause harm to themselves or others' and to make sure they didn't have any stolen possessions.
Officers say all were handed over to their parents, who were informed of the searches and arrangements were made for them to be spoken to at a future date.
They add 'Contrary to comments on social media, Police Officers do have powers to stop and search juveniles in public and these searches were to their outer clothing only.'
