Police say they're re-clarifying the situation about the use of rally car tyres on open Manx roads.
The roads policing unit says its aware of confusion surrounding the legalities of them ahead of the PokerStars Rally this weekend and is liaising with the Vehicle Test Centre to make the situation clearer.
Officers add comments had been made by people pointing out that TT and MGP racing machines are allowed on open roads whilst on racing compounds and without lights or number plates - this is already covered by specific legislation.
Authorities say further information on the matter will be issued in due course.
