Police appeal to trace family of cop killed on duty

Police are appealing for help in tracing the family of an officer who was killed whilst on duty 40 years ago.

The Isle of Man Constabulary's historian wants to make contact with PC Denis Hamer's relatives - he was killed on September 7th 1976.

The 26-year-old had been with the Manx force for almost a year when he was struck by an out-of-control bike during the Manx Grand Prix.

He was on duty at Union Mills when the incident happened - he died instantly.

In a post shared on Facebook the constabulary has published a photo of the officer and asked for the family to get in touch.
