In the consultation for the proposal it received great public support, but the taxi workers themselves had always been apposed to the idea.

A number of taxi drivers had gathered in protest outside of Tynwald this morning.

Infrastructure Minister Phil Gawne removed the order from the paper at the last minute; his reasons for doing so are yet to be revealed.
