The government's planning to up the amount benefits claimants can borrow in emergencies when Tynwald sits later this month.
During its October sitting, members will be asked to approve updated regulations governing Exceptional Needs Grants and Budgeting Loans.
The payments cover things like rent deposits, furniture or other items.
The government says while loans are repayable, it has set aside an extra £50,000 next year for grants.
