The planning application for a new visitor hub for the Laxey Wheel has now been withdrawn.
Manx National Heritage made the decision following recommendations from Planning and Building Control.
It states 'the proposal fails to respect the historic importance of the Laxey Wheel, by introducing a larger massing, of a modern design.'
It adds that the proposed hub would have significant harm to the structure and main viewpoints of the water wheel.
As a result, the application has been withdrawn, with a new one expected to follow after changes have been made.
