Plans for Island-wide parcel collection service

The Island's postal service is looking for organisations who could provide an Island-wide parcel collection service.

The organisation is looking for suitable partners to carry out the initiative on its behalf, saying parcels continue to be a rapidly growing market and it wants to make sure people can get convenient collection sites with late night and weekend opening times.

Recently, the post office launched a text message service for customers who choose to collect a parcel from their preferred location, advising them when the parcel is available to collect.

Chair of IOM Post Office, Julie Edge MHK, says: "We recognise that with the busy lives many of us have, convenience is key and so we would like to be able to offer parcel collection points in as many communities as possible, widening the nine sites we currently have in place.

"We hope the expressions of interest advert will attract a wide-range of businesses or organisations that are looking to increase their footfall and generate an additional income, whilst providing an important service to the community."

Expressions of interest are now available on both the IOM Post Office website and government procurement portal - the deadline for submissions is Monday, January 4, 2021.
