A planning application has been submitted for a new mobile classroom on the field at Castle Rushen High School.
Inside the mobile building will be two classrooms and toilet facilities with access via a ramp and stairs at the front and two fire exits.
The application says it will be ‘highly insulated’ and have air source heating and cooling, double glazed windows and u-valves to help ‘reduce’ the energy and carbon footprint.
The Department of Education, Sport and Culture says the building won’t ‘increase’ the amount of students at the school but is to stop off-site lessons for older students.
Development on the site has been earmarked for ‘education’ use in Castletown Local Plan.
