Pinewood plans to go to Licensing Court

Plans to turn a vacant pub in Pulrose into a social club have been summited to the Licensing Court.

The interim committee of the Pinewood Social Club has submitted a Club Registration Order for the sitting on September 8th.

It follows Heron and Brearley's decision to close the facility in July citing 'shifting consumer trends' - the brewery is said to be providing 'on-going and committed support' for the new proposal.

If successful the social club will be focussed on community activities and events for the welfare of members.

Former South Douglas MHK Bill Malarkey, who is standing for re-election, says thanks to the 'enthusiastic and committed spirit of the community' the plans could soon be a reality.
