A petition to stop development on the Summerland site has been submitted to the Department of Infrastructure.
The leisure complex caught fire on August 2nd, 1973, with 3,000 holidaymakers and locals inside - killing 50 people.
One of those who remembers the tragedy is Tina Brennen who was 19 at the time - she watched the tragedy unfold from the road above.
She set up the petition earlier this year in an effort to halt developers from investing in the area.
Tina says the support has been excellent:
TT food van needed for trackside car park
Northern roadworks to hinge on Mountain Road reopening
Beer festival to return this week
Dublin to sign friendship agreement with Douglas in summer
Total of 35 properties on council's dilapidated list
Equipment being sold off from popular former bar
Council to object to Summerland site plans
Manx Care still trying to contact dental practice
