Hundreds have signed a petition calling for the festoon lights on Douglas Promenade to be brought back.
The fairy lights along the stretch, which have been around since the 1940's, were taken down by Douglas Borough Council.
Adam Keay, who set up the petition, believes the new LED lights put up by the local authority aren't in keeping with the promenade and that the old lights 'form a beautiful and welcoming spectacle for travellers arriving in the Isle of Man by sea and people enjoying the promenades at night time.'
The decision to remove them was taken by the council in February last year, with leader David Christian saying the investment in the new LED system would save the taxpayer around £157,000 a year in energy costs.
So far, the petition has gathered over 900 signatures.
