Petition against double-murderer's parole nears 3,500 signatures

A petition against a double-murderer being paroled has gathered almost 3,500 signatures.

Peter Newbery sexually abused his two victims before strangling and stabbing them in Braddan, and was jailed for life in 2004.

The murders of teens George Green and Samantha Barton shocked the Island, and found significant failings in government childcare after a public inquiry.

An online petition asking the parole board not to release him early at his next hearing in March has had more than 3,300 people sign it since it began in January.
