Government says it wants to host an eight-month long flower show on the site of a former agricultural mart in St Johns.
The Cabinet Office has applied for planning permission to host the event, which would start in June, on the former Farmer's Arms site.
The scheme would see students from the Island's schools looking after gardens and growing plants in a temporary garden centre.
In its application, the government says the event would run from late June thought to February next year.
