Residents will be able to view plans to revamp Peel's main shopping area today.
The proposals from the Department of Infrastructure will be on display at Peel Town Hall from 10am until 6pm, with officers from the design team also on hand to discuss them between 2pm and 6pm.
In it's initial application, the DOI says the shopping area of Michael Street and Athol Place has 'reached the end of it's useful life' and that it is 'barely adequate' for pedestrians.
The plans include the reconstruction of the highway and footways with granite paving, as well as two ‘rain gardens’ in Athol Place.
These green spaces are said to help with drainage during heavy rain and provide habitats for wildlife - and, to assist the visually impaired, tactile strips will also be installed to help with navigation.
