Campaigners who objected to regeneration work in Peel say they've made some progress in their bid to retain the history of the area.
It follows a number of demonstrations at Market Place concerning the removal of a historical sandstone curtain wall around St Peter's Church.
They claimed the area was 'aesthetically' important and the wall should be retained to reflect the true identity of the town.
The campaigners say they've now had discussions with the regeneration officer and Peel Town Commissioners who've agreed to retain the open gateway, the arch and provide authentic gates.
