Peel Cathedral's applying for permission to expand Corrin Hall with accommodation and a new office.
The planning application says there would be four bedrooms, a common room and kitchen provided for visiting church interns.
A first-floor extension would also be built for an administration office.
Until now the dean's home has been used for these purposes, but as Nigel Godfrey is due to retire soon alternatives are being looked at.
