10p an hour pay rise pending approval
Workers earning the minimum wage in the Isle Of Man could be better off.
Following a recommendation by the Minimum Wage Committee the Department of Economic Development is to submit Regulations to Tynwald in October which, if approved, will increase the Minimum Wage for workers aged 18 or over to £6.20 per hour, that's a 10p an hour pay rise.
The increase would come into effect from 1st November 2011.
The recommendation of the Committee to increase the main adult rate but to leave all other rates unchanged has been approved by both Treasury and the Department of Economic Development. There has been no amendment to the Minimum Wage since April 2010.
