DEFA is increasing patrols at Christmas tree sites following an incident of vandalism and theft from a plantation.
It comes after a tree was damaged and stolen from Ballaugh plantation which officials say was one of a few earmarked for charities and local authorities on Island.
The department is now urging woodland visitors to report any suspicious activity.
It's added illegal activity like this can jeopardise the availability of trees for good causes in the future.
