Passivhaus success as energy bills drop

Taxpayers' money could be saved if government introduces more 'Passivhaus' buildings into its housing stock. 

That's according to the Department of Infrastructure after an interim study showed two eco-friendly homes built in Castletown have used 58 per cent less energy than the average UK household.

The public sector properties in Janet's Corner used significantly lower levels of electricity and gas in the first 12 months they were occupied:  

Minister Phil Gawne has branded it a 'big step in the right direction' and says he'd like to see the building technique rolled out across the public sector in the future:
