Ramsey Commissioners won’t pedestrianise Parliament Street next summer.
Board member Lamara Craine proposed a trial to close the street to vehicles on weekends for four hours over the summer months.
But the local authority heard 39 retailers in the town had objected along with the Northern Chamber of Commerce.
Three proposals were brought forward by Ms Craine; an online consultation, a staff report based on a survey and then a trial.
However, none of them were supported and further motion from Adam Beighton to not pursue the matter further was approved.
