A weather warning today for coastal overtopping has been upgraded to 'Amber'.
The notice from the met office is in force until 3pm on Saturday with promenades in Douglas, Laxey and Ramsey as well as Shore Road in Rushen the most likely to be affected.
Forecasters say strong to gale force winds along with high tides are expected to create large waves.
This is expected to wash water and debris onto exposed roads.
