It's expected to cost the government over £315,000 to convert a former bank into a facility for Manx National Heritage.
Enterprise Minister Tim Johnston gave the figure in Tynwald this week in response to a question from Arbory, Castletown and Malew MHK Jason Moorhouse about the former Barclays bank in Castletown.
Mr Johnston says MNH plans to turn the building on Market Square into more than just a retail outlet, and it would serve as a heritage hub.
He added the money has come from the Manx Museum and National Trust reserves.
