A major cash boost is set to give a revamp to a popular community facility in Onchan.
£40,000 is being awarded by the Manx Lottery Trust to refurbish and improve the headquarters on the 2nd Onchan Scouts based on School Road.
The group recently got planning permission to carry out various works, including creating a new entrance foyer, installing a new toilet block and shower facilities, and improvements to make the building fully disabled-friendly.
Group Secretary, Verona Addy, says: "The grant is such welcome news for everyone connected with 2nd Onchan Scouts but also the wider community in Onchan.
"The building is used five nights a week by our Beaver, Cub, Scout and Explorer Sections with a youth membership of around 120, but it is also utilised for a range of other activities such as dance classes, dog training, music classes and children's parties."
The Scout Association works with more than 700 young people aged between six and 25 on Island aiming to develop key skills to benefit them now, and in the future, as well as providing fun and adventure.
