Olympians praise the Isle of Man for Commonwealth Youth Games

Track and gym stars Dame Kelly Holmes and Beth Tweddle were on the Island throughout its duration

Two of biggest names in British Athletics of the last decade have heaped praise on the Isle of Man following a successful Commonwealth Youth Games.

Track and gym stars Dame Kelly Holmes and Beth Tweddle were on the Island throughout its duration, Dame Kelly is the President of Commonwealth Games England aswell as a dougle Gold medal winner; she praised the Island’s facilities saying they must act as an inspiration for the young people here.

She also hailed the organisation of the event, which included 600 volunteers, over 500 officials and featured over 1000 athletes from 63 nations, branding it first class.

Gymnast Beth said she was 'really impressed with the enthusiastic and helpful volunteers'.

The Isle of Man finished the gamed an impressive 16th place in the leaderboard of 63 nations.
