The Department of Environment, Food and Agriculture says a glamping site in the south of the Island didn't need a Waste Disposal Licence, because the material was being used for landscaping.
A Freedom of Information request asked about the Reayrt Vradda site on Ballafesson Road in Port Erin which is owned by commissioners and was operated by a company which went into liquidation earlier this year.
The department says it doesn't have any records of an exemption application for construction and demolition waste despite a request from a company director in 2023.
But it says after complaints its officers checked the site and found a waste disposal licence wasn't needed.
