The Island has received no official requests from the UK over a possible asylum seeker processing centre on Manx shores, according to an MHK.
It comes after The Times says UK Home Secretary, Priti Patel, is considering the Island as a potential location for such a facility as she's understood to be determined to stop migrants making dangerous journeys to Britian across the Channel.
However, Douglas South MHK, Claire Christian, says no requests have been received by the British government over the matter, adding should this administration or any other one after that want this to happen it would require a debate in Tynwald.
Mrs Christian also comments Manx politicians would therefore be forewarned and would be able to be the voice of residents over the issue.
