Onchan Commissioners is standing by its controversial decision to pull out of kerb-side recycling.
Two years ago the authority stopped the scheme which cost £100,000 saying it couldn’t by justified.
Instead, bring banks were installed where people could drop off their recycling.
New figures released last week show that the tonnage from these banks has increased from just over 8,000 kilos to 13,000 kilos in a year.
The commissioners said it shows a remarkable commitment from ratepayers who are still committed to recycling if they have the opportunity.
