The Department of Infrastructure says nobody gets a parking permit if their vehicle is too heavy.
A Freedom of Information request asked how many permits had been granted to vehicles like vans and trucks.
In its response, the DOI said vehicles exceeding prescribed weight limits weren't granted permits.
It added if there's any doubt about its weight, the vehicle has to go to the test centre in Tromode as part of the application process - and it also checks the registration certificate.
