There are no plans to hire an empty properties officer at present, according to the chair of the government's Housing and Communities Board.
This week in the House of Keys, David Ashford MHK faced questions about the post from Douglas Central MHK Chris Thomas.
Meetings from minutes showed the board had decided to hire someone to put together an empty homes strategy.
Mr Ashford said that decision had been overturned and other work is being done to tackle the problem of homes lying empty:
