There are no plans to turn Douglas Head into a conservation area.
That's despite overwhelming support for the idea in a recent public consultation.
The decision was revealed in the House of Keys this week when the Cabinet Minister responded to a written question from Rushen MHK Juan Watterson.
The results of a recent consultation show that out of 61 responses, 79% of voted in favour of giving the area protected status.
But Kate Lord- Brennan said after weighing up the arguements for and against, it was decided there was no urgency for change.
