Residents are reminded that there are changes to prescriptions for minor conditions from today.
Patients will now instead be advised by their GP which treatments to buy over the counter themselves.
This will mostly affect cheaper medications like paracetamol.
However, prescriptions will still be given for long term conditions.
This change aims to reduce costs, with items like paracetamol often cheaper over the counter than the current prescription cost of £3.85.
