The Department of Infrastructure doesn't currently have enough money to resurface Castletown's main streets.
Arbory, Castletown and Malew MHK Jason Moorhouse asked Infrastructure Minister Michelle Haywood for an update in the House of Keys this week.
Dr Haywood said planning permission was granted last year for Arbory Street and Malew Street.
She explained her department's resources were stretched, but it still had time to start work:
