Infrastructure Minister, David Cretney has confirmed that Manx Telecom will no longer be pursuing West Drive in Onchan as a possible location for a Mobile Phone mast.
The Minister was responding to concerns flagged up by Liberal Vannin Member, Zac Hall.
In his letter he stated he shared the Onchan MHK's concerns about the potential health impacts that could have arisen from locating a mast in close proximity to residential areas.
In an effort to stop situations like this from happening again Minister Cretney has said he has ordered a review of the current Permitted Development Order with regards to mobile communication masts, and to amend them as soon as possible.
In future all stakeholders will be fully consulted to the proposed locations for the masts.
