The Department of Education, Sport and Culture says it doesn't have any information about parents consenting to active shooter drills in schools.
A Freedom of Information request asked for details of the number of parents who allowed their children to take part in the exercises.
A number of parents criticised emergency lockdown drills held earlier this month at the start of the new academic year.
In its response, the department said it didn't hold the information, but said the drills improve security and preparedness to keep students, staff and visitors safe.
