No further progress for new changing rooms at Pulrose pitches

Douglas Council is no further along with replacing the changing rooms at the Spring Valley pitches.

At last week's public meeting, a list of priorities was created to try and move the project along including asking the teams to merge, reducing the amount of facilities and creating ‘usable’ pitches at Noble’s Park.

Chair of the Regeneration and Community Committee Andrew Bentley says the council has been working to resolve the issue, which he said started 8 years ago.

Council Leader Claire Wells said people in the area told her the NSC is ‘too expensive’ to use.

When the council met in February, it rejected tenders for the development due to the cost being too high and agreed last week its top priority is to ‘investigate modular buildings’.

It also confirmed that there has been no ‘conclusion’ to the project because officers are ‘balancing’ five criteria; the Football Foundation’s minimum requirements for grant funding, planning stipulations, the Football Associations required specifications, the council’s budget and the procurement approach.
