Government workers on top wages make up less than 10 per cent of the workforce - and are usually health or education professionals.
So says Policy and Reform Minister Chris Thomas after facing questions in the House of Keys this week.
Onchan MHK Julie Edge said according to figures she'd seen almost 70 employees had started earning more than £50,000 a year since 2015.
Mr Thomas said her figures were mistaken and the number of top earners hadn't changed significantly:
