New employment rights for shared parental and bereavement leave will come into force next week, now Tynwald's given its approval.
Under new rules from Saturday, November 1, parents will be entitled to two weeks' leave following the death of a child under 18, including cases of stillbirth.
Meanwhile expectant parents who suffer a miscarriage before 24 weeks of pregnancy will be able to take to one week off.
And parents will have the right to share up to 50 weeks of leave to care for a baby in the first 12 months, though both maternity and paternity leave will still be options.
