New technology to monitor fishing boats in the Island's territorial waters is now in use.
According to Biosphere Isle of Man, it changes the ability to manage fishing activity and ensure its sustainability.
Following a consultation last year, the Department of Environment, Food and Agriculture made it a requirement for vessels under 12m to have an 'inshore monitoring system.'
The data will help DEFA, scientists and the industry in their approach to deliver sustainable, responsive and evidence-based fisheries management in Manx waters.
