Manx Points Based System Introduced For Migrant Workers
From now on any employers looking to take on people outside of the European Economic Area will have to comply with a new points based system.
Tynwald approved the Manx Points Based System in 2009, it was introduced in line with legislation already in place in the UK and ultimately will act to safeguard certain jobs.
The changes will only impact on employers who require skilled workers as a last resort measure when no on Island workers can be found.
In order to qualify for a position the potential skilled worker will have to achieve sufficient points in areas such as financial stability and a proficiency in English language.
The existing Overseas Labour Scheme that the Points System will replace will close to applicants on the 9th July.
